We are privileged to have ‘National Physiotherapy Week’ present annually on the National Health Calendar. It is usually presented in September each year around International Physiotherapy Day (8 September). During the week physiotherapists volunteer their time to promote healthy living and educate the public on how to prevent and manage neck and back injuries.
Physiotherapists might visit schools, carry out screening and educational programmes in their practices, set up community-based activities e.g. at clinics, hospitals and public sports and recreational areas. The week also provides us with an opportunity to promote the various fields of practice of physiotherapy (i.e. not only the management of musculoskeletal problems such as neck and back injuries) to both the public and our medical colleagues.
